I was so excited when Shaina contacted me to schedule her maternity session. I know her personally as a co-worker and our daughter, Claire, spent 10 days with Shaina in Europe on a school trip last summer. She always goes above and beyond to create amazing experiences and I was excited to capture Shaina and Adam as they were about to have their own new experience of becoming parents.
On the evening of their session, we met at their family home and I was struck by how much fun the two were having together. It was almost like I wasn’t even there, to be honest! They had eyes only for each other, and it was just the sweetest thing. Very little direction was needed from me other than where to stand and which direction to face to work with the strong backlighting, and the rest was all them. If you don’t know what to do, don’t worry – I’ll tell you exactly what to do. I position clients, and then give prompts for natural interaction and will adjust certain things when necessary to make sure it’s flattering to my clients. The rest is all you – all you have to do is focus on each other!
