Lindsay & Jed

Weddings

A White Barn Wedding, Pittsburgh PA

As soon as we pulled up, Lindsay’s mom welcomed Molly and I. Emma shared that she had been praying for the rain to clear and she knew that God would work a miracle so they could celebrate Lindsay and Jed’s dream wedding day. They had worked so hard to plan this celebration and their ceremony was supposed to be outside overlooking a beautiful pond and countryside.

As I was working on shooting details, the rain continued. Lindsay was nervous. There were brief periods of time that it stopped raining long enough to sneak in a few outdoor photos but nevertheless the rain would begin again and we would have to take cover inside. It was beginning to get close to the time that decisions would need to be made and we weren’t sure the outdoor ceremony could happen. Thirty minutes before the ceremony, the rain died down and the sun actually started to peek through the trees! It was a wedding-day-weather-miracle! Not only did the rain stop just in time for the ceremony to take place, but it also dropped the temperature by ten degrees and brought some lingering cloud-cover so that no one had to squint.

I feel like the weather on Lindsay and Jed’s wedding day was such a representation of life. There will be storms but the sun always comes back out again. The longer I photograph weddings, the more I fully understand the beauty of this celebration.  It’s not just getting a new last name or a new title. It’s obviously not about photos (even though I think they are a TOP priority!). It’s about making a covenant to live life side by side with the person you love the most…. no matter how hard it gets.  I’m so excited to see Lindsay and Jed start on this new adventure together as husband and wife. Their beautiful day was just a small piece of all of the beautiful adventures they will experience as husband and wife!

We love this sweet family and we loved being the ones capturing the beginning of their story!! Enjoy my favorites from their beautiful, mountaintop wedding!
