Cook Forest Engagement: Beauty of Nature and Love

Jessica and Matt’s Cook Forest Engagement session was everything I love about photographing in Western Pennsylvania. Sunshine, forest paths, riverside views, and a couple full of genuine warmth. We had the perfect evening for it! The sun peeked out just in time for golden hour, giving their session that soft, romantic glow photographers dream about.

From Referral to Forever

Jessica first reached out to me after being referred by one of my past SHP couples. Honestly, there’s no greater compliment! She told me about her upcoming November wedding at Tuck’d Inn Farm—one of my favorite venues—and I was instantly excited. Getting to know Jessica and Matt has already been such a joy. Their engagement session made me even more excited for what’s ahead.

Cook Forest Surprises

We met at Cook Forest State Park, a spot I photograph near often. But this time, the water level was much higher than usual from recent rain. Some of my go-to riverside locations were totally flooded. Still, we pivoted and found beautiful alternatives nearby. Between the towering trees, soft light, and this sweet couple, we didn’t miss a beat.

Jessica and Matt were so easy to work with. Their connection was effortless and their joy was contagious. Just when I thought the night couldn’t get better, Matt pulled out a cowboy hat for the final set of photos. It was laid-back, a little playful, and so perfectly them. Those final frames might be some of my favorites!

Looking Ahead

I already know their wedding this fall is going to be amazing. Their Cook Forest Engagement session gave such a clear glimpse of who they are. Kind, fun, and completely in sync with one another. I love working with couples who are up for anything and just enjoy the moment.
